New Year’s Resolutions – DanVenture Travels

Yes, I am a few months late to set out New Year’s resolutions, but being more active on the blog was one of my 2019 resolutions. I haven’t been as active on the blog as I intended to when the year started. I think most bloggers have the intention to give their blogs more attention, but life seems to get in the way. So this inspired me to give my readers a bit of insight into my travel plans for 2019. My job allows me to see a lot of new places & to a degree, that fact allows me to decide which places I want to go back to & which ones I most likely won’t visit on my personal travels.

The places I hope to visit this year depend on a few factors:

  • The number of days off I get.
  • The length of the flight from Doha.
  • I have to either get visa free entry, visa on arrival or be eligible for an e-visa.

Tbilisi, Georgia

Petra, Jordan

Kathmandu, Nepal

Baku, Azerbaijan

Salalah, Oman (Possibly Muscat as well)

At the moment these are just ideas & nothing is set in stone yet. I’d like to go home to South Africa & at some point soon, I’m going to have to start the process of getting a new passport. These two things might also have an effect on my personal travels, but those are 5 places I hope to visit before the end of the year. Have you been to any of these places? Do you have any travel tips for me?

Keep traveling, keep safe.

  1. My husband travels a lot for his with, too. He was in Zambia a couple of years ago, and loved it. He also lived in Japan some years ago.

    Jealous of your adventures!

  2. I really would like to go to Petra! I had no idea that it’s where Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was shot and for that extra detail, I REALLY want to go! I was thinking of a deep cultural exchange like living like the locals and dressing like them. So hopefully that will happen, I think it is a way of helping us understand where people come from and their beliefs.

  3. Never been to Petra but the rest of my family has! They recommend going to the monastery instead of the high place of sacrifice as you can only do 1 in a 1 day visit and the monastery is particularly spectacular. They also say to expect a lot of walking (but it’s a good walk) and that it’s best to spend more than 1 day in Petra if you want to explore things in depth. 😊 Happy travels!

  5. That’s a great looking list of travel destinations for 2019. I too have been finding it difficult to stay in a regular blogging routine. I enjoy blogging so much, but just do not set aside enough time for it. Balancing the immersion of oneself in a place and following up with good blog documentation of one’s time in that very place without losing time in the next destination isn’t easy!

  6. I have been to Kathmandu. If you are outdoorsy, consider spending a few weeks here and trekking in the Himalayas! By far one of the best things I have done in my entire life.
